# Home bakery equipment and batch planner

UseCase Picks · 31 October 2026

A manual worksheet for a small first-order menu. Copy into a notes/document app and fill in the blanks. This is not an automated spreadsheet, recipe, food-safety plan or permission to sell food.

## 1. Plan one collection slot

- Product/recipe and version:
- Recipe pan size/depth:
- Pieces per pack and packs requested:
- Tested saleable yield per oven run:
- Planned collection/delivery time:
- Required storage/transport conditions and guidance checked:

## 2. Inventory and missing purchases

Mark Have / Need / Later. Keep unknown prices blank until checked.

| Item/job | Have / Need / Later | Existing item/condition | Quantity to buy | Unit price INR | Delivery/other charges | Date/source checked |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Scale | | | | | | |
| Measuring tools | | | | | | |
| Bowls and mixing tools | | | | | | |
| Suitable oven | | | | | | |
| Recipe-sized pans/trays | | | | | | |
| Gloves and heat-safe resting area | | | | | | |
| Cooling rack/workspace | | | | | | |
| Storage/containers | | | | | | |
| Packaging/supports/labels | | | | | | |
| Menu-specific tools | | | | | | |

New purchase total = sum of (quantity to buy × checked unit price) + applicable delivery/other charges. Do not count delivery twice if already included in a checkout total. Record reused equipment separately; no new purchase does not mean no running/replacement cost.

Add separate allowances for ingredients, trial batches, packaging consumed, electricity/fuel, transport, cleaning and any setup/compliance costs. Equipment subtotal is not the whole business budget.

## 3. Oven and pan fit

- Appliance make/model and manual:
- Intended recipe mode:
- Usable shelf width/depth/height:
- Pan outside dimensions including handles/rim:
- Pan material and stated temperature/use limits:
- Required ventilation/clearance and electrical setup checked:
- Tested number of pans per run:

Do not substitute package dimensions for usable oven dimensions. Use only cookware and modes permitted by the appliance and pan makers.

## 4. Trial quantity

- Required pieces = packs × pieces per pack.
- Runs = required pieces ÷ tested saleable yield per run, rounded UP to a whole run.
- Baking time alone = runs × actual minutes per run.
- Final saleable quantity and waste/rejects:

Fictional example: 6 packs × 6 pieces = 36 pieces. At 12 saleable pieces per run, 36 ÷ 12 = 3 runs. At an assumed 25 minutes per run, baking alone takes 75 minutes. These inputs are not baking instructions or safe holding times.

## 5. Time the complete trial

Activities can overlap. Record actual first-start and last-pack-ready times rather than blindly adding every duration.

| Activity | Start | End | Delay observed |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Preparation/weighing | | | |
| Preheat and mixing | | | |
| Run 1 | | | |
| Further runs | | | |
| Cooling and required storage | | | |
| Cutting/decorating | | | |
| Packing | | | |
| Washing/resetting workspace | | | |

- First activity started:
- Last pack ready:
- Elapsed time:
- Cooling/storage space sufficient? Evidence:
- Packaging fit and handover/transport checked? Evidence:
- Reliable quantity for next trial:

## 6. Choose the next purchase

- Specific problem observed:
- Could a smaller order, different slot or existing tool solve it?
- Item that addresses the problem:
- Fit/use/cleaning requirements checked:
- Current delivered quote and date:
- Buy now / trial again / defer:

Before selling, check current official requirements for your activity and premises. Storage, transport, allergens and shelf life need suitable guidance beyond this worksheet. Use fictional customer details when testing an order tracker.
